The best tournament in March, the UEFA Champions League, is back for another installment this week.
The Champions League quarter-finals kick-off today, with APOEL Nicosia v Real Madrid and Benfica v Chelsea on Tuesday’s matchday schedule.
Real Madrid are big favorites to win in Cyprus, while Benfica are slightly favored against Premier League giants Chelsea.
However, in football, anything can happen.
Now then, this segment will focus on tomorrow’s Champions League matches, which include AC Milan v FC Barcelona — a group stage rematch — and Marseille v Bayern Munich.
In other words, four of the most storied football clubs, representing four different countries, will be taking the pitch on Wednesday, March 28.
Without further ado, let’s get started with the betting odds for Wednesday’s Champions League fixtures, which, as always, will be followed by match previews and predictions.
Betting Odds
AC Milan (21/5) v FC Barcelona (3/4); Draw (3/1)
Marseille (19/5) v Bayern Munich (10/11); Draw (13/5)
Preview: AC Milan v FC Barcelona
Pep Guardiola leads in-form FC Barcelona to the Giuseppe Meazza to take on Massimiliano Allegri and AC Milan on Wednesday night.
Since suffering a shock defeat to Osasuna at the Reyno de Navarra on February 11, the Catalan conquerors have won nine consecutive games in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Milan’s eight-match unbeaten run in Serie A has propelled them to the top of the table.
With both sides flying high at the moment, something’s got to give on Wednesday.
Players to Watch
Milan talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic would love nothing more than to bag the winner against his former club. The Sweden international leads the Rossoneri with five goals and three assists in the Champions League this season.
On the other side of the touchline, Lionel Messi is the danger man for the Catalans. The little Argentine has already bagged 12 Champions League goals in 2011-12.
Prediction
Milan edge Barca, 3-2 Rossoneri.
Preview: Marseille v Bayern Munich
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich travel to the Stade Vélodrome, France to battle Ligue 1 outfit Marseille on Wednesday evening.
Wednesday’s clash also marks Franck Ribery’s first return to Marseille since leaving the club in favor of the Allianz Arena in 2007.
There’s no doubt that the French media will have a field day with this story, and not to the surprise of Ribery.
“There are certain people around who don’t stop criticising me,” Ribery told L’Equipe.
“Whenever I come to France, I don’t even have time to switch on the television and they are criticising me already.
“I am not my normal self when I play for France, I am completely different. I don’t know if it is a mental thing.
“Things should not happen like that, they should happen like here in Munich. Everything is done to make me feel good here. In Germany, I am happy and I express myself on the field.”
Nonetheless, the French winger is undoubtedly the man to watch on Wednesday night.
Prediction
Advantage Bayern Munich, 2-1 visitors.
