Paris Saint-Germain striker Mevlut Erding will undergo a shoulder operation on Wednesday that will rule him out for at least 15 days, the club revealed on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Turkish international sustained an injury to his shoulder in PSG’s 3-0 home win over Lille at the end of August.

PSG reported that he is suffering from “persistent painful discomfort”.

The length of his predicted recovery period will be reassessed following the operation, but he looks set to miss at least the capital side’s trip to Monaco on Sunday and their home game against Lyon the weekend after.

Erding, who signed from Sochaux in the summer, has scored two goals to date this season and is likely to be replaced in the PSG starting XI by last season’s top scorer Guillaume Hoarau, who is yet to start a game this term.
