Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement with Inter Milan over the transfer of Mauro Icardi, according to Sky in Italy.
The striker moved to the French capital last summer on an initial season-long loan, with PSG having the option to turn the deal permanent by the end of this month. With that deadline now approaching fast, there was some concern the option would expire, but the Ligue 1 champions have apparently wrapped the business up.
Inter will receive a guaranteed sum of €50 million, and potentially another €7m through achievable add-ons. The deal will certainly make their financial situation amid the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic a little easier, and it could go some way to explain their reluctance to yield the services of Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona.
Icardi’s arrival to the Parc des Princes signaled the beginning of the end for Edinson Cavani, who will now leave the club as a free agent.
