PSG attempted to land Steven N’Zonzi on deadline day

Former Stoke midfielder and one of the most prominent Sevilla stars Steven N’Zonzi has been the subject of intense transfer speculation during the summer transfer window.

After a highly successful season in La Liga the French international emerged as a possible transfer target for the host of European big-name clubs such as Juventus and Chelsea, but the 28-year-old ended up remaining with Rojiblancos despite increased interest from across the continent.

With the transfer market now closed information are starting to leak and the French media outlets have revealed that Steven N’Zonzi was a transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain who wanted to make him a replacement for Blaise Matuidi.

The French giants reportedly executed the last-ditch attempt to land the 28-year-old holding midfielder during the closing hours of the summer transfer market.

It was PSG boss Unai Emery who insisted on N’Zonzi as he was keen to reunite with the player he brought to Sevilla from Stoke City in 2015.
