According to a report in Spanish media, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to do whatever it takes to secure the signing of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax this summer.
Barcelona have long been considered as favorites when it comes to potential transfer of the 19-year-old Ajax captain, ahead of Juventus and Bayern Munich. Liverpool and Manchester United have also been mentioned, but media in England quickly dispelled those rumours. However, PSG now enter the fray with an offer that will be hard for anyone to match.
As Sport claim, the Ligue 1 champions are offering Ajax a fee of €90 million (€80 million fixed plus €10 million in add-ons), while Barcelona are willing to go up to €75 million. To the player they are offering wages of €15 million per year, while the Catalans have been weighing up an amount between €5 million and €7 million.
Barcelona now apparently feel that the whole matter has become more complicated than they had foreseen, and they may decide to drop out of the race to sign the much coveted defender.
