Paris Saint-Germain captain Mamadou Sakho admits he is frustrated that a lack of first team football is damaging his chances of making France Euro 2012 squad.
The 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented defenders in Europe and he was an important part of the starting line-up over the last few seasons.
However, despite starting this season as a starting regular and a captain of the side, Sakho has fallen down the pecking order behind Alex, Diego Lugano and Milan Bisevac.
The young centre-back admits he is frustrated by the current situation, but insists he is still fully focused on helping the Saints win the Ligue 1 title.
“Of course it is frustrating and annoying, especially when you are a competitor like me,” Sakho told L’Equipe.
“But hey, there are still six league games (to go). I remain focused on the club’s objective. We have worked on it since last summer. It would be nice to be rewarded at the end of the season.”
Sakho started his career at Parc des Princes and already has 127 Ligue 1 games to his name.
The talented defender featured for various France’s youth sides, while he also made 5 appearances for the senior national team.
