Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed they are planning a summer swoop for Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
It is no secret the French giants are looking for ways to further reinforce the squad in the summer and the Argentine was believed to be high on their wishlist.
Until now there has been no official confirmation from the French club, but Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant Giorgio Ciaschini has publicly discussed club’s interest in the player.
“PSG are looking for several different players,” Giorgio Ciaschini told Radio Crc. “French football right now is not the same as Italian or English football.
“Going into the Champions League, Ancelotti is not looking for just one forward, but players in various roles and Lavezzi is of interest to Paris Saint-German.
“Lavezzi is a player who many clubs like, but I don’t know if he will leave Napoli. I know Pocho well and PSG sent scouts to view him because he could help the side achieve important targets.”
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently admitted that Lavezzi could leave the club at the end of the season, adding fuel to speculations linking the Argentine with a host of Europe’s top clubs.
The highly rated forward has a €32 million release clause inserted in his contract and that shouldn’t prove to be a problem for Paris Saint-Germain.
“Does that sum reflect the real value of Lavezzi? I don’t talk about figures, as that is something I do not know about, but I do know Lavezzi is a great player and therefore worth a great deal,” Ciaschini explained.
Lavezzi was recently relegated to the bench by coach Walter Mazzarri, and that could accelerate his San Paolo exit.
