Despite his contract expiring in the summer, bringing with it a strong possibility of losing his services for free, Paris Saint-Germain are extremely reluctant to allow Edinson Cavani to leave this month, according to Marca.
The 32-year-old striker reportedly already has a deal agreed with Atletico Madrid, who, due to the long-term absence of Diego Costa, only have Alvaro Morata available upfront at the moment. The addition of Cavani would mean a lot to head coach Diego Simeone as he prepares his team for a fiery second half of the season.
But apparently, PSG are keen to keep the Uruguay international in their ranks for the rest of the season for that same reason as they eye Champions League glory. What’s more, they view Atletico as direct rivals in that battle and don’t want to help them strengthen their team.
It puts Atletico in a difficult situation, with Manchester United and Chelsea possibly interested in Cavani as well, come summer.
