Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax are among clubs showing interest in Fluminense youngster Marcus Wendel Valle da Silva, according to L’Equipe.

The 20-year-old caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs with some scintillating showings in his debut season on senior level, scoring 4 goals in 31 league outings.

Barcelona and FC Porto were some of the interested sides, but latest reports suggest that PSG and Ajax are now the only top clubs on Wendel’s trail.

While some media suggested that the Saints had agreed a deal with Fluminense, it would appear as though they are still debating whether to step up their interest.

Wendel is an attack-minded central midfielder who could potentially succeed Serie A-bound Javier Pastore, although the priority is finding a long-term successor to veteran holding midfielder Thiago Motta.
