According to Mundo Deportivo, Paris Saint-Germain are set to try and hijack Barcelona’s proposed deal for Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt. It’s certainly starting to look like the duo will be going somewhere together as opposed to apart, with every club that is interested wanting to sign both at the same time.
PSG’s sporting director is said to have met with Marc Overmars at the Champions League knockout draw, although recent reports have indicated that Barcelona have also done the same.
Manchester City are also believed to be interested, but they don’t seem to be quite as urgent as others.
Ajax have already made it clear that they don’t want any kind of deal to go through until at least the summer transfer window makes sense, given that they’re still doing well in Europe. The real question is whether or not de Ligt & de Jong will be more interested in the money of the French champions, or the allure and prestige of the Spanish champions.
