Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as favourites to sign Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa Almeida, according to Sport.
The 19-year-old is widely regarded as the hottest prospect to have come out of club’s youth academy since Barcelona superstar Neymar.
Nicknamed Gabigol, the youngster is already on the radar of Europe’s top clubs and his agent Wagner Ribeiro has toured the old continent over the past few weeks to offer his client’s services to interested parties.
According to Sport, Paris Saint-Germain moved to the front of the queue for the talented forward as they reportedly submitted an official proposal for Barbosa.
The Brazil Under-20 international already has a decent top flight experience, having made 102 league appearances, scoring 29 goals.
Barbosa is widely expected to leave Santos for greener pastures in the near future, but it is now clear that he will not be available on the cheap, with the Brazilian giants having rejected a €20 million bid from Fenerbahce last summer.
