Lionel Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season and reports in Spain continue to drop hints about his emotional return to Barcelona for 2023/24.
Speaking openly on the subject, the vice-president in charge of the economics at the Catalan club said the return of the seven-time Ballon d’Or would now be financially viable from their perspective, and that it was solely up to the people in charge of the actual football to decide whether Messi is wanted back at Camp Nou next summer.
However, according to Le Parisien, PSG are keen to extend the 35-year-old’s contract and keep him at the Parc des Princes 2025. They are currently working on the financial aspects of a proposed deal, getting ready to put it on Messi’s table.
Meanwhile, Messi reportedly won’t decide on his future at this point. He is focused on doing the best he can with Argentina at what will surely be his last World Cup, as well as finishing the season strongly with PSG before making his mind up.
