PSG to make a move on Abate

Le Parisien understands that Paris Saint-Germain are readying summer bid for AC Milan full-back Ignazio Abate.

The Saints are far from impressed by current right-back options that include Gregory van der Wiel and Christophe Jallet, and they are in the market for a new right-sided defender.

It was long believed that Barcelona full-back Daniel Alves was the number one player on their hit-list, but PSG ultimately opted against signing the 31-year-old as they believe he would prove too expensive considering there is almost no resale value.

According to Le Parisien, the Saints have turned their attention to AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate, who continues to be linked with a summer exit.

PSG officials should have no problems persuading the Italy international to join considering he shares the same agent as his friend Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ignazio Abate, 27, should be in the starting line-up when Italy take on Uruguay later today, with the Azzurri priced at 8/5 to emerge victorious.
