PSG must be clinical against Barca – Blanc

Laurent Blanc knows Paris Saint-Germain must be clinical if they are to get anything out of Wednesday’s clash with Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The French champions end their UEFA Champions League Group F campaign knowing a draw will see them top the standings ahead of Barca.

Luis Enrique’s men can finish top with victory on Wednesday and will hope to gain a measure of revenge for their 3-2 loss in Paris back in September.

That result ended Luis Enrique’s unbeaten start to life in charge at the club, while PSG are the only club in Europe’s major leagues yet to taste defeat in any competition this term.

However, Blanc believes Barca will likely dominate possession, adding PSG will need to make the most of any opportunities that they create.

“The quality of our play is important but we will play against a team that’s one of the best in Europe,” the Frenchman told a news conference on Tuesday.

“In the first tie, we did well, although they kept us in our own half in the second half. Barcelona will have 70 per cent of the possession.

“When we have the ball, we have to score. If you play extraordinarily well in Barcelona then you are doing something special.

“We are more relaxed because we’re both through to the next round but we know what awaits us here [in Barcelona].

“We will try to defend well, play compact and avoid problems regarding the star Barcelona players. When we have the ball we have to make the most of it.

“I know Barcelona and they will have up to eight players joining their attacks. I won’t lie and say we will have the majority of the possession.”
