Paris Saint Germain president Charles Villeneuve said on Thursday he will quit his position with the top French club on February 3 in an agreement with majority shareholder Sebastien Bazin.
Villeneuve said that he “will fully carry out his functions” until that date when a General Assembly will be held to decide on his successor.
“I will keep a deep affection for this club, its values, its players and its fans,” said Villeneuve. “I have complete confidence in the future of PSG and in Sebastien Bazin.”
Villeneuve fell out with many top officials at the club last Friday when he penned a letter in which he demanded more powers. That, in turn, led to mass resignations of the board on Sunday.
