French super club PSG are finally starting to feel the pressures of Financial Fair Play after they smashed the world transfer record to sign Neymar for an astronomical fee of £189m in the summer.
According to the Mirror the Parisian giants need to generate £70m in order to avoid sanctions, and one method of reaching that total involves offloading some unwanted players. Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria is apparently amongst the players that are free to depart the club in January, and various clubs will no doubt be interested in acquiring the former Manchester United man’s signature.
Di Maria has scored 29 goals in 94 appearances for PSG in his three seasons in the French capital and at 29 years of age the winger still has a few good seasons left in him. The Argentina international was arguably at his most prolific during his time at Real Madrid, but reports suggest that Los Blancos’ eternal rivals Barcelona attempted to sign Di Maria on deadline day this summer.
It will be interesting to see whether the Catalan club revive their interest in the winger, or whether Di Maria will have to find another club elsewhere in Europe.
