Paris Saint-Germain rejected a €60 million proposal for star player Marquinhos last summer, according to the defender’s official representative.
It is no secret that the Brazilian has been a top target for Spanish giants Barcelona for quite some time, but the Saints have so far refused to negotiate his sale.
But, while reports have suggested that Marquinhos is on the verge of signing a new deal at Parc des Princes, the player’s agent has moved to reveal the talks have been shelved for some five months.
“Marquinhos has not yet renewed, we haven’t negotiated with PSG for five months,” Giuliano Bertolucci told El Mundo Deportivo. “The renovation is stopped.”
Bertolucci added that PSG were reluctant to negotiate the sale with Barcelona or any other club for that matter, and they even rejected a €60 million bid last summer.
“I have no idea (about the asking price), but last summer PSG had a €60 million offer for Marquinhos and rejected it.”
Marquinhos is widely regarded as one of world’s leading centre-backs, but having finally nailed down a regular starting berth at Parc des Princes, he does not appear to be keen on leaving for greener pastures any more.
