French midfielder Lassana Diarra has had his contract with Al Jazira terminated by mutual consent, the Abu Dhabi outfit moved to announce.
The 32-year-old had joined the club on a free transfer last summer, signing a deal until June 2020, but the contract has now been canceled.
Such a scenario seemed on the cards when Diarra was left out of the squad for the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup, where Al Jazira came really close to shocking mighty Real Madrid in the semis.
The Frenchman is now free to look for a new club and latest reports suggest he could join long term admirers Paris Saint-Germain.
The Saints need cover for Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti, and they are looking to bring Diarra to Parc des Princes.
