Lifting the French Super Cup courtesy of a 4-0 win over rivals Monaco last week, Thomas Tuchel’s new PSG side know that nothing short of another Ligue 1 crown will be tolerated and they will look to make the defense of their title when they welcome Caen to Parc des Princes.

For former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel, although it might have been a slow start to his tenure on PSG’s pre-season tour of the States, PSG put in a stunning performance with a comprehensive 4-0 win over AS Monaco in the French Super Cup. With the likes of Neymar and fellow World cup stars returning from an extended break, Tuchel will also be looking for Argentinian star Angel Di Maria to carry on his impressive form from last weekend, the winger scored a brace against Monaco last time out. Another notable signing is that of Italian international Gianluigi Buffon who has now conceded just one goal on their pre-season outings.

As for Fabien Mercadal’s Caen side, after only avoiding the drop by a single point last season, many pundits have the visitors tipped as a leading candidate for the chop this time around. With a number Mercadal’s squad leaving the Stade Michel d’Ornano this summer, it has been another difficult pre-season for Caen. Coming off the back of a 3-1 loss to Guingamp last week, the visitors have now won just one match since the start of March and have now scored just two in their last five.
