PSG to hijack Inter’s bid for Forlan; Galatasaray in sensational swoop for Germany star

PSG to hijack Inter’s bid for Forlan

Paris Saint-Germain are the latest club to have joined the race for Diego Forlan, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Uruguayan striker has been widely tipped to leave Vicente Calderon this summer, with the arrival of Radamel Falcao Garcia pushing him closer towards the exit door.

Inter Milan have shown interest in Forlan, as they see him as a perfect replacement for Anzhi-bound Samuel Eto’o, but the Neroazzurri are not the only team keeping tabs on the veteran forward.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Paris Saint-Germain are looking to hijack Inter’s bid for the Uruguayan and are set to make a formal offer.

The Saints are looking to add another striker to the squad since it is now clear that Mevlut Erding will be leaving Parc des Princes before the transfer window is over.

Forlan could be tempted by the prospect of joining newly rich Paris Saint-Germain, especially as the French club would be able to offer him better terms than Inter.

Galatasaray in sensational swoop for Germany star

Turkish giants Galatasaray are weighing up a move for Koln striker Lukas Podolski, Bild has revealed.

The Germany international is reportedly unsettled at Koln following coach Solbakken’s decision not to hand him captain’s armband, with Galatasaray looking to take advantage of the situation and lure the player to Turkey.

The Turks are willing to offer Koln €9 million for the player’s services, while Podolski would get a long-term contract worth €3 million per season.

Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim was even pictured writing the player’s name on the tactical board when pondering formations for the new season while on training camp in Slovakia.

Koln’s managing director Claus Horstmann says the club have received no offers for the 26-year-old.

“We have received no official request for Poldi,” Horstmann was quoted as saying.

However, sporting director Volker Finke confirmed that an unnamed club have enquired about Podolski.

“There was a call from an agent three or four days ago. He wanted to know if there was a chance to get Podolski,” Finke said.

“The conversation was very brief. I told him that we will keep Poldi regardless of what happens.”

Leonardo reveals Berbatov staying at Old Trafford

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is staying at Old Trafford, according to Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo.

Paris Saint-Germain was keen on the unsettled Manchester United star and they even made an official enquiry.

Berbatov has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford and was widely tipped to leave after falling down the pecking order behind Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.

However, it looks as though Sir Alex Ferguson still sees the Bulgarian as an important member of the squad.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that Berbatov will be staying at Old Trafford.

“I had Ferguson on the phone but he told me that he was counting on Berbatov and that he was not for sale,” Leonardo told France Football.

PSG have already spent more than €80 million on new players this summer, but the Saints are still looking for another striker to complete the summer recruitment.
