Paris Saint-Germain are exploring the options to sign both Lionel Messi from Barcelona and Sergio Aguero from Manchester City, according to AS, but the move could force the Ligue 1 champions to part ways with Kylian Mbappe.
Newly appointed PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is apparently keen to unite the Argentine star duo at the Parc Des Princes, with former Barcelona star Neymar also looking forward to playing alongside Messi once more.
However, PSG have recently revealed losses amounting to €100 million and are currently planning to cut the wages of their players as a measure to fight the huge financial impact of the coronavirus crisis, and they will have to make room not only in their attacking line, but also on their wage bill for two such renowned players. To that end, they’re likely to be open to offers for Mbappe, with the 22-year-old reportedly a prime target for Real Madrid.
Mbappe still hasn’t renewed his contract and the current one will enter its final year this summer, but PSG still expect a world-record fee for his services, surpassing the €222m they paid for Neymar in 2017. As for Messi and Aguero, their respective contracts with Barcelona and Manchester City expire at the end of the season.
