According to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain were in talks with Italian giants Juventus yesterday over the possibility of a deal for Mattia De Sciglio. Juve were said to be invested in the idea, as long as they could turn it into some kind of swap deal that would see Thomas Meunier head in the opposite direction.
The links didn’t quite come to anything in the end, but it’s interesting to note that this was considered to be a realistic possibility – at least for a few hours.
Paris Saint-Germain already had one hell of a deadline day, managing to keep hold of Neymar for another few months whilst simultaneously signing Mauro Icardi. Now, even without this move, they have to be viewed as serious contenders not only domestically, but also in Europe.
Either way, it seems as if this could be picked back up somewhere down the line.
