PSV Eindhoven have agreed a fee with Roma for the transfer of 23-year-old midfielder Kevin Strootman.
The former Utrecht and Sparta player has been linked with a switch throughout the close-season and is now in Rome to agree personal terms and have a medical conducted.
PSV’s technical director Marcel Brands told the Eredivisie club’s official website: “A transfer can not be stopped, for one of the greatest figures in the history of PSV. But (he is) also a large sporting loss.”
Since moving to the Philips Stadion in 2011, Strootman has become a regular fixture within the side, helping PSV finish second in the Dutch top flight last season.
The Netherlands international has made 53 appearances in all competitions since joining the club, scoring 13 goals.
Strootman also has 19 caps for his country, making 18 starts and one substitute appearance.
