(GSM) – PSV of Eindhoven lead the Dutch Eredivisie after a very comfortable 6-0 win over De Graafschap, while Ajax got their first win of the season beating Vitesse 4-2.
PSV’s start at Philips stadium could not have been any better as De Graafschap’s Purrel Fränkel committed a foul in the fourth minute with a penalty and a red card as result. Balazs Dzsudzsak made no mistake from the spot, 1-0.
Swedish striker Ola Toivonen went on to add another three in the 25th, 47th and 55th minutes respectively, followed by late goals from Nordin Amrabat and Ibrahim Afellay.
Ajax earned their first win of the season but were handed some decent opposition from Vitesse, who went ahead through Davy Propper in the 26th minute. Belgian Jan Vertonghen leveled in the 37th minute however and Gregory van der Wiel made it 2-1 another three minutes later.
Marco van Ginkel then made it 2-2 shortly before the break but Siem de Jong restored Ajax’ lead two minutes after half time, following by Vurnon Anita’s goal for 4-2 near the hour.
Defending champions Twente were held to their second draw in a row, this time failing to score against a Heerenveen side that was clearly happy to leave Enschede with a point in the pocket.
AZ of Alkmaar struggled their way to a 1-1 draw in a home match with Groningen, who took the lead through Tim Sparv in the 76th minute. Maarten Martens saved the day for the 2009 champions, equalising with three minutes left in regular time.
On Sunday, only Feyenoord and NEC will have an opportunity to join PSV at the top.
