PSV are confident that striker Ola Toivonen will extend his contract with the club.
Toivonen had been linked with a move away from the Eredivisie side in the close-season, with Premier League club Norwich City rumoured to be among the interested parties.
The Sweden international is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave the Eindhoven outfit on a free transfer.
However, technical director Marcel Brands expects the 27-year-old to put pen to paper on an extension.
“I have no indication that he does not intend to sign,” he told De Telegraaf.
“Otherwise, he would not let us wait so long. Why would he do that?”
Brands is due to meet with Toivonen’s agent Mino Raiola before the forward links up with the Sweden squad for their FIFA World Cup play-off against Portugal later this month.
“(Talks) were agreed last week when Mino was in America,” Brands added. “We need to see if we will meet or speak by phone.
“That word (deadline) is not applicable. We have made the appointment, which Ola agreed would happen before he joins up with the national team.”
