PSV head coach Phillip Cocu has all but confirmed that star forward Memphis Depay will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.
The in-form attacker is being heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United, having impressed under Louis van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup.
And the recent comments made by PSV boss Phillip Cocu ahead of the Europa League clash with Zenit have only added fuel to speculation.
“That’s unfortunate, but on the other hand, we must as a club be proud because we have trained him,” Cocu told Russian daily Sport Express.
“At some point, it becomes clear that he is ready for the next step. And yes, I think he’s going to leave PSV after this season.”
Memphis Depay is the product of club’s youth school and he has made tremendous progress since breaking into the first team set-up during the 2011/2012 season.
After netting 12 times in 32 league outings last term, the 21-year-old already has 15 league goals this season and no wonder Cocu believes this is the right time to cash in on his services.
The Netherlands international should be in the starting line-up when PSV host Zenit this evening, with the Dutch giants 3/2 to emerge victorious.
