PSV secure minimal win, Feyenoord convince against Volendam

PSV Eindhoven held on to a narrow lead to earn a win over Sparta Rotterdam, while Feyenoord easily defeated FC Volendam for their virst victory of the season.

The only goal of the match at Eindhoven’s Philips stadium was scored by Ibrahim Affelay in the 58th minute, Up til then, Sparta had been giving PSV some serious troubles and refused to simply give up versus the defending champions.

Feyenoord’s win over Volendam was much more convincing. Volendam defenders forced the referee to call for two penalties in the first half, both converted by Dane Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Biseswar went on to score Feyenoord’s third and fourth goal in the second half, and veteran Mols netted the home side’s 5th in added time.

On Sunday, Ajax will be looking for their first points of the season against Roda JC in Amsterdam.
