(GSM) – PSV are back on top in the Dutch Eredivisie following a hard-fought 2-4 victory at Willem II in Sunday’s provincial derby.
The Eindhoven side didn’t have to travel far to face a struggling Willem II in nearby Tilburg.
Things started as planned for Fred Rutten’s side as Hungarian Balazs Dzsudzsak put PSV in the lead after just three minutes, but Willem II surprised their guests with an equaliser from Andreas Landgren seven minutes later.
Jeremain Lens restored PSV’s lead in the 17th but an own goal from the experienced Wilfred Bouma once again restored the balance in the 32nd.
Willem II, who have yet to win a match this season and earned only one point from their previous eight games, then continued to cause trouble for their opponents.
But Ibrahim Afellay allowed PSV to enter the break with a 2-3 lead, hitting the target in the 44th minute. Jonathan Reis then made it 2-4 in the 52nd to end Willem II’s resistance.
