(GSM) – PSV are the new leaders in the Dutch Eredivisie following a 3-0 win over VVV while Ajax suffered a 1-2 defeat by Utrecht.
No goals were scored in the first half between PSV and VVV, played at Eindhoven’s Philips stadium.
But Jonathan Reis broke the deadlock in the 56th minute and Wilfred Bouma doubled the gap seven minutes later. The third and final goal came on 78 minutes, with Jonathan Reis netting his second of the day.
The result allows PSV to surpass Ajax, who suffered a rare home defeat against Utrecht.
The visiting side won two penalties in the opening 15 minutes with Ricky van Wolfswinkel converting both. All Ajax could do in return was score a consolation goal through Siem de Jong in the 90th minute.
Twente handed Groningen their first defeat of the season, beating the northerners 4-2 in Enschede. Bryan Ruiz (2), Marc Janko and Theo Janssen scored for the defending champions, while Andreas Granqvist and Tim Matavz did so for the guests.
