Carles Puyol warned his FC Barcelona team-mates to expect a backlash on Wednesday when they host an FC Bayern München side licking their wounds following a painful 5-1 defeat at VfL Wolfsburg on the weekend, especially with Luca Toni and Franck Ribéry in their ranks.

“I have no doubts that Bayern will be much more dangerous having suffered such a damaging defeat on Saturday,” said the 30-year-old. “The only positive thing that can be said about our chances after an opponent like Bayern concedes five is that it’s a warning for us to be even more on our guard as this will have a huge impact on their motivation.”
