Qatar sack Bruno Metsu

Qatar Football Federation have announced Bruno Metsu is no longer national team coach, following team’s poor performance at the Asian Cup.

After Qatar were eliminated in the Asian Cup quarter-finals, the national team chiefs decided to sack Bruno Metsu and start search for the new boss.

“We thank Bruno Metsu for his contribution to football in Qatar, but we felt it was time to move forward,” said Football Federation president, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani.

Metsu doesn’t think he could have done much better considering the players he had at his disposal.

“I did my best in Qatar, but luck was not on my side. My coaching work was also made more difficult by the small group of talented players available here.”

The Arab nation will organize the 2022 World Cup and national team chiefs are eager to raise the team’s profile in the build-up to the competition.
