QPR closing in on Benayoun deal

Queens Park Rangers are close to securing a deal for Yossi Benayoun, the Mirror understands.

The Israel international has verbally agreed a two year contract with Harry Redknapp’s men who are favourites to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

The 33 year old made almost two hundred top flight appearances in England with Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham United.

He has been without a club since being released from Chelsea in the summer, and has been keeping fit by training with Maccabi Haifa.

Internationally, he has won 93 caps and was unable to help his country qualify for their first World Cup finals in forty-four years.

QPR currently sit in third place in the Championship, five points behind Burnely after losing 2-0 at Turf Moor at the weekend, though they remain favourites to win the title for the second time in four years at a price of 13/8.
