QPR fail in Parker bid

Queens Park Rangers have failed with a bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker, Sky Sports understands.

Hoops manager Harry Redknapp made the approach for his former player earlier this week, whilst also enquiring about the availability of striker Jermaine Defoe.

The Championship club must now decide whether or not to make a second bid for Parker, who faces competition for his starting place at the North London club from £17m signing Paulinho.

QPR have also been linked with a move for Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi, who is set to leave Anfield this summer.

The Morocco international, who signed for the Merseyside club last summer, played just seventy-three minutes of league football last season, with his only starts coming in the League Cup and Europa League.

Meanwhile, Park Ji Sung and Adel Taarabt have both secured season long loan deals away from the club, with the midfielders signing for PSV Eindhoven and Fulham respectively.
