Queens Park Rangers are close to agreeing a deal for Newcastle United right-back Danny Simpson, the Mirror understands.
The former Manchester United man travelled to London yesterday to undergo a medial with the recently relegated side, who
are moving quickly to assemble a side to push for a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The 26 year old is available on a free transfer after his contract with Newcastle expired, and is expected to be handed a generous deal as consolidation for dropping down a division.
Harry Redknapp has been on the lookout for a new right-back, with Jose Bosingwa largely disappointing since signing on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer.
The former Spurs boss has also been linked with another move for midfielder Scott Parker, though it remains to be seen whether the 2011 England Player of the Year would be willing to move to a Championship club.
