(GSM) – Fourth-division Quevilly continued their magical French Cup run with a 3-1 quarter-final win over Boulogne on Tuesday, and PSG also advanced 6-5 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Auxerre.
Quevilly downed their second straight Ligue 1 foe, taking an 11th-minute lead with Florian Coquio’s shot beyond Boulogne keeper Jean-François Bedenik.
Then, in front of a capacity crowd at Stade Robert Diochen in Rouen, the minnows went 2-0 up on 29 minutes through Anthony Laup’s goal.
Boulogne made a game of it just before the break when Damien Marcq reduced the arrears to 2-1, but Quevilly would not be denied as Abdel Majide Ouahbi extended the lead in the 67th minute to put them in the last four.
Meanwhile, at Stade l’Abbé Deschamps, PSG moved into the semis as they ousted Auxerre on spot kicks.
The two sides could not decide the tie after 120 minutes, and it would be left for the penalty spot to decide who advanced.
Each side successfully converted their allotment of five penalties, but Auxerre’s sixth shooter, Julien Quercia, failed to convert.
That left the door open for Claude Makélélé to beat Rémy Riou in the Auxerre goal for the winner.
