(GSM) – Ghana have advanced to the semi finals of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, beating hosts Angola 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Asamoah Gyan.
The 24-year-old Gyan came close with a free kick early on, but was more successful in the 16th minute when picking up a through ball before calmly directing it past keeper Carlos.
Angola then began to gain control over the match and almost levelled when Manucho headed on goal from a Flavio cross, but found keeper Richard Kingson in his path.
And Manucho had another big change shortly before the break, this time blasting the ball over Ghana’s crossbar.
No more goals were scored in the second half despite Angola’s late offensive.
Ghana, who won the tournament four times but failed to do so since 1982, play their semi final match against the winner of the quarter final encounter between Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria.
