Quick Report: Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United

Manchester United have made it to the final of the UEFA Champions League for the second time in a row. Arsenal could not compete with United’s quality this Tuesday, losing 1-3 at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal knew that a single Manchester goal would possibly be fatal as the Londoners would then need three, but could not prevent that Korean Ji-Sung Park beat keeper Almunia after just eight minutes.

And things got worse for the home side when Cristiano Ronaldo took a free kick from more than 30 meters and instead of finding a teammate, the Portuguese forward struck it straight into the right corner of the goal.

And the guests again showed their strength just after the hour mark. Ronaldo formed the base of a counterattack involving Park and Wayne Rooney, who then returned the ball for Ronaldo to smash it home from inside the penalty box.

There was bad news to United as well as Darren Fletcher fouled Cesc Fabregas in the 75th minute, causing a penalty and getting sent off in the process. As a result, the midfielder misses the final. Robin van Persie converted the spot kick for 3-1, and an aggregate result of 4-1 to Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson face either Chelsea of FC Barcelona in Rome, later this month.
