AS Roma are the new leaders in Group A following a 1-3 win at CFR Cluj while Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux.

Brighi put the Romans ahead after just 11 minutes and captain Francesco Totti made it 0-2 in the 23rd.

Kone did something back for the Romanians on the half hour mark but Brighi added his second of the night on 64 minutes to hand Roma a comfortable 1-3 win.

Chelsea were close to securing a spot in the second round with a 60th-minute goal from Nicolas Anelka but the French hosts replied with seven minutes to go as Diarra made it 1-1.

To add to Chelsea’s misery, Frank Lampard picked up a second yellow card in the 86th minute.

Roma are now in first place with nine points, while Chelsea are second with eight. Bordeaux still have a chance with 7 points, while Cluj are now out of contention in this group.
