Atlético de Madrid and Liverpool held each other to a 1-1 draw in Spain and PSV Eindhoven are on course for a UEFA Cup berth with a 2-0 win over Marseille.
Irish striker Robbie Keane put the Liverpudlians in the lead after fourteen minutes but Simao, who also scored against Real Madrid on the weekend, levelled with seven minutes to go.
Both sides now have seven points from three games, but Atlético have a slightly better goal record and get to occupy the top spot.
PSV Eindhoven did themselves a great favor beating Olympique de Marseille 2-0 at Philips Stadium.
Danny Koevermans took care of both goals, in the 72nd and 85th minutes.
PSV now have three points and will most probably continue to battle for a UEFA Cup spot, while Marseille are still without points in this group.
