FC Barcelona crushed FC Basel 0-5 and maintain their perfect record in this year’s Champions League, while Sporting Lisbon beat Shakhtar Donetsk to move into second place.
Just four minutes had been played in Switzerland when Lionel Messi put the Catalans ahead, and youngster Busquets doubled the advantage on fifteen minutes.
Bojan Krkic netted the away side’s next two goals in the 22nd and 46th minutes and Xavi Hernández took care of the fifth and final goal three minutes after the break.
Sporting Lisbon only needed one goal to make a difference in Ukraine, with Liedson scoring for 0-1 in the 76th minute.
With nine points from three games, Barcelona have one foot in the next round. Sporting are second with six points and are on course as well.
Shakhtar are now third with three points, and Basel haven’t managed to collect any points so far.
