Bayern Munich almost gave away a very comfortable lead but eventually won 2-3 to finish first in Group F. Fiorentina beat Steaua Bucharest 0-1 and advance to the UEFA Cup.

Bayern Munich completely dominated in the first half and left Lyon without an opportunity to react.

Miroslav Klose netted the opener after 11 minutes and Frenchman Frank Ribery set the gap to two in the 34th. Three minutes later, Klose added another and at this point that match was practically decided.

Sidney Govou got one back in the 52nd minute though and Karim Benzema netted another in the 68th minute. Bayern held on to their lead though and finish ahead of the French in this group.

Steaua required a win to make it through to the UEFA Cup but Fiorentina scored the only goal of the match through Alberto Gilardino in the second half. As a result, the Italians finish third in this group and advance to the continent’s second club tournament.
