(GSM) – Liverpool face a tough challenge in the UEFA Europa League quarter finals after losing the first leg 2-1 at Benfica.

The Premiership side had a good start at Lisbon’s Estadio da Luz as Daniel Agger scored the opening goal in the ninth minute.

But Dutch forward Ryan Babel was given a direct red card on the half hour mark, leaving his side a man down for another hour.

Referee Jonas Eriksson of Sweden would be of great influence in the second half, awarding the home side penalties in the 59th and 79th minutes. Both were converted by Oscar Cardozo.
