(GSM) – Lyon moved into the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday as they beat Bordeaux 3-2 on aggregate despite a 1-0 second-leg defeat.
Bordeaux and Lyon both had chances in the first half, but Bordeaux had more of the ball needing two goals to overturn a 3-1 first-leg defeat in Lyon.
There was hope for the reigning French champions just before the half-time interval when Marouane Chamakh tapped home from close range after Benoît Trémoulinas’ pass into the area.
Bordeaux poured forward, but they managed only three shots on target in the entire game.
The play of the Lyon defenders, and occasionally from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was sufficient as both sides wasted a host of opportunities.
Lyon will now face Bayern Munich in the last four.
