A second half goal from Salomon Kalou earned Chelsea a draw against Manchester United, who had taken the lead in the first half.

Chelsea manager Scolari saw himself forced to make a change after only twelve minutes, taking off the injured Ricardo Carvalho for Brazilian defender Alex.

United were the better side in the opening phase and took the lead after 18 minutes. Dimitar Berbatov had a shot parried by Petr Cech but the ball ended up in front of Ji Sung Park, who reacted fast enough to make it 0-1.

Fourteen minutes later, United goalkeeper Van der Sar injured his right leg in a clash with Florent Malouda and the Dutch veteran had to come off for Tomasz Kuszczak.

The reserve goalkeeper delivered a good performance but couldn’t keep Chelsea from scoring the equaliser in the 80th minute.

Mikel took a free kick after a Wayne Rooney foul, and Ivorian striker Salomon Kalou got his head to the ball to direct it past the keeper for 1-1.
