LONDON, Apr (26) – Chelsea are back in the title race after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
A Michael Ballack header just before half time gave Chelsea the lead in England’s capital city but Wayne Rooney levelled the score in the 56th minute.
But only four minutes were left to play when Michael Carrick handled the ball in Manchester’s penalty area. Ballack stayed calm and delivered an unstoppable penalty kick for 2-1.
Manchester got some good chances in the closing minutes but Chelsea survived to take three valuable points.
The two teams now have the same amount of points with two games to go, but United do keep the lead thanks to a much better goal record.
