FC Barcelona earned a rather easy 5-2 victory over Olympique Lyon to secure their place in the next round of the Champions League. The first leg had ended in a 1-1 result
The match as Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium was highly entertaining, with Thierry Henry opening the score after 25th minute, running on to a lob from Rafael Marquez. Two minutes later, Xavi enabled the Frenchman to score his second.
And Barcelona kept on going as Lionel Messi added a third in the 40th minute, finding his way into the penalty are before shooting past keeper Lloris for 3-0.
Samuel Eto’o made it 4-0 just before the break, with Henry providing the cutting pass.
Lyon would get one back on 44 minutes though, as Brazilian Juninho’s corner was headed home by Jean II Makoun for 4-1. And Juninho himself went on to net three minutes after the interval, giving Lyon a ray of hope.
But the French couldn’t cause another upset and instead lost Juninho to a second yellow card in the 90th minute. In added time, the Spaniards added a fifth goal through Keita.
