(TVL) – Internazionale are a huge step closer to a spot in this year’s UEFA Champions League final following Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Barcelona.
The match began with a slightly dominant Barcelona, who took the lead on 19 minutes when Maxwell’s pass from the left allowed Pedro to hit the target with a lot shot from about 11 meters.
But Inter reacted well and it was Wesley Sneijder to level the score after Diego Milito extended a cross from Samuel Eto’o on the half hour mark.
And the Italian champions completed the turn-around three minutes after the interval. Milito was again of great importance, this time delivering the ball to Maicon whose quick touch left keeper Victor Valdes beaten.
Milito himself scored Inter’s third goal one minute after the hour. Wesley Sneijder attempted to get his head to a cross from Eto’o but missed, although the ball ended up in front of the Argentinian who made no mistake from close range.
Although Barcelona continuously attacked in the final ten minutes, the Italian defense held on to maintain their 3-1 lead.
The second leg will be played at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium on Wednesday, April 28.
