(GSM) – Liverpool advance to the semi final stage of the UEFA Europa League after a convincing 4-1 win over Benfica at Anfield.

The first leg had Benfica win 2-1 but at home, Liverpool were clearly the better side and took the lead through Dirk Kuyt in the 27th minute.

Lucas Leiva made it 2-0 seven minutes later, rounding the keeper after a through-pass from Steven Gerrard, and Fernando Torres went on to add a third near the hour mark.

Oscar Cardozo pulled one back in the 70th minute, momentarily allowing a similar scenario to Bayern Munich’s comeback at Manchester United a day earlier.

But Liverpool remained calm and Torres netted his second to decide the clash in the 82nd minute, 4-1.
