Manchester United are through to the quarter finals of the Champions League, as the title defenders beat Internazionale 2-0 at Old Trafford. The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw.
United took the lead on four minutes. Ryan Giggs sent in a corner from the right and Nemanja Vidic rose high to head the ball past keeper Julio Cesar.
Internationale did attack at times but it was the home side to score a second, four minutes after tea-time. Wayne Rooney’s cross found Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Portuguese forward slammed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.
Adriano almost got one back for Inter, just a minute after replacing Stankovic, but his volley from within the penalty area hit the left post.
