(GSM) – A superb effort from Manchester United saw them ease into the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday, defeating AC Milan 4-0 on the day and 7-2 on aggregate.
Already holding a 3-2 lead from the first leg in Milan, the Red Devils went further in front in the 13th minute when Wayne Rooney nodded one past Christian Abbiati.
Milan still had their chances in the first half, but they were deflated just after the second-half restart when Rooney struck again, this time slotting home from Nani’s throughball.
Park Ji-Sung made it 3-0 in the 59th minute after a phenomenal pass from Paul Scholes put the Korean through on goal, and Darren Fletcher capped the rout with two minutes to play to send the Rossoneri crashing out.
United will now be in the hat for 19 March’s quarter-final draw.
